I photographed the total solar eclipse from a dirt road in the middle of nowhere in 2024. I took just a few photos and then walked around in the strange dim light that had silenced the birds. Spiritually, eclipses symbolize periods of profound change and new beginnings. Themes of cycles and transformation are throughout my photography. What appears to be ancient fiery stars are in reality photographs of fireworks, bight bursts of energy that are held for a moment and burn off into smoke. Charred flowers record the aftermath of the purge. I tell a story of loss and sacrifice, but also of cleansing and renewal.
